Alessia Cara

In 2015 at 19 she debuted her first single Here. The song received praise both from music critics and listeners. The single peaked at 19th at both Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song as one of 2015's Best Songs. In that same year she released her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. This track was special since, in light of her interview with Rap-Up that she conducted, many of people who listened to her music could connect to her experiences of learning to love themselves and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara is famous for including the themes of mental health and love and self-love into her songs. The music of Cara is directly from her struggles with insomnia, mental illness as well as other problems. According to an Reuters interview, her album is described as halfway tumultuous, half perfected. She tells people that she found her growth during therapy. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born July 11, 1996, to parents of Italian descent. In 2010, her parents purchased her a brand new guitar that she was able to use to further develop her passion for music. She began covering the songs she loved at 13, to prove to that world that she was a talented musician and the confidence required to become the next singer. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather ended up getting noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record the tracks.
